Shopping in Copenhagen is excellent. The city centre is full of independent retailers and small, exclusive boutiques, and has several grand department stores.
Great places to shop in Copenhagen are Strøget, Strædet, Købmagergade, Kronprinsensgade, Grønnegade, Ny Østergade, Latin Quarter, Vesterbro and Nørrebro. The two longest shopping streets are Strøget and Købmagergade.  One thing is certain, Danes are among the leaders in world design. Today, the Danish design wave has washed over the city with independent shops in fashionable areas of the city. Bang & Olufsen, the ultimate in designer stereo equipment, and silversmith Georg Jensen, are just two Danish brands famous worldwide. Both have shops on Strøget as does Royal Copenhagen, creaters of Danish porcelain. Denmark is also well known for it's position within interior design. The two furniture designers Arne Jacobsen and Hans J. Wegner are world famous for their timeless classic designs, now followed by modern interior design companies like GUBI, Normann Copenhagen, Casa Shop and Designer Zoo.
The profile of Copenhagen's fashion designers has increased dramatically. These days, Danish designers working in Copenhagen and for world famous labels in Paris, London and Milan, exert a sizeable influence over the international fashion industry. This creative strength, and the esteem in which Danish designers are held around the world, is also reflected in Copenhagen’s wealth of designer stores and boutiques.
